Dr. Emily Chaney Compton, OD, is a 5th generation Cullman County native. She grew up in Cullman and graduated from Cullman High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Alabama and her Doctorate of Optometry from UAB School of Optometry. She completed an internship at the Birmingham VA Medical Clinic, where she trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Alabama Optometric Association, and the Birmingham Area Optometric Society.
Dr. Compton provides comprehensive and medical oriented eye care. Her special interest also includes dry eye disease, surgical co-management, myopia control management, and fitting of Orthokeratology lenses. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and taking the time to listen and educate each patient on their individual needs.
Dr. Compton lives in Cullman with her husband and daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and taking her two dogs on walks.
Dr. Compton worked in the Birmingham area before coming back to Cullman and is excited to return to her hometown to serve her community.
