Using Latest Techniques in LASIK Surgery

Description

Eyecare Madison uses the latest techniques in LASIK surgery, including iLASIK and digital WaveScan. With iLASIK, surgery is a completely blade-free procedure. WaveScan more accurately measures the amount of farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism, and transmits the information directly to the laser.

Here at Eye Care Madison, we offer what we call Eye Lasik, which is a completely blade free procedure that involves two different lasers. We used to use blades, back, you know, many years ago, to create this flap but now the laser is able to create the flap in its entirety so there are no blades involved at all. The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes per eye. Most of that is in the preparatory phases of getting the eye sterile and programming the numbers into the laser, double checking the measurements, getting everything centered. The actual creation of the flap takes about 22 seconds and the correction of the refractive error, in most people, takes somewhere between about 30 to 60 seconds. So the critical parts of the procedure are very quick. At Eye Care Madison we do a wave scan reading on all of our patients that come in. It's a device that just more accurately measures the amount of farsightedness, near nearsightedness, or astigmatism, puts it in a digital format and then we can transfer that digital information directly to the laser and the laser puts that pattern on the patient's eye so it statistically increases your shot at getting out of your glasses and contact lenses. So we really enjoy using that technology package. When it comes to your eyes, there's no substitute for experience and we have it.
